Pale ale battered fish
This bold flavoured Pale Ale is absolutely brilliant for making a sumptuous batch of real English-style Fish 'N Chips. If you live on Canada's East Coast you'll no doubt have the luxury of a fleshy, flaky Haddock cutlet.
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups Propeller Pale Ale
2 cups flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. turmeric
2 lbs. fillet of Haddock
Oil for deep-frying
Directions:
Mix Propeller Pale Ale, eggs, flour, pepper, onion powder, and turmeric. Thicken with additional flour, if required.
Dry fish with paper towels.
Heat oil to 375 degrees.
Dip fish pieces in batter and deep-fry for 5-10 minutes. Turning occasionally.
Drain fish on paper towels and serve.
For a truly English tweak, why not put the Fish N Chips on a bed of newspapers like they do in England? Make sure it's a brand new newspaper though! Enjoy with a chilled glass of our Propeller Pale Ale or even a Honey Wheat would compliment this recipe.
